The study was aimed at investigating the impact of mobile addiction, gender and nature of course on psychological well-being of the university students. A random sample of 120 university students (54 boys and 66 girls) both science and arts were participated in the study. A mobile addiction scale a modified version of internet addiction scale developed by Egger and Rauterberg (1996) was used to measure high and low level of mobile addiction and psychological well-being questionnaire developed by Indira Jaya Prakash was used to measure the level psychological wellbeing of the sample. The results indicates that higher levels of addiction to mobile lowers the levels of psychological well-being. Study also reveals gender differences in the experience of psychological well-being. Female students found to have better psychological well-being than male students. Further the results indicate that science students have better psychological well-being than their counterparts arts students. Implications of the study were included in the results and discussion.Keywords

Adjustment during the period of adolescence will determine to a larger extent what will one be as a person as an adult. Generally adolescence is believed to be a period of great stress and storm as rapid physical as well as mental changes occur during this period. Every cultural group has expectations of an individual according to their developmental stage. Successful achievement of such developmental tasks leads to happiness and help to succeed in later tasks, failure to unhappiness and a developmental lag. Due globalization commercialization and modest modification of essential requirements of life the young people in the age group of 10 to 18 in the south East Asian countries. It especially in the state of Andhra Pradesh India worst problems of negligence and lack of awareness. Because of poverty and ignorance, children are becoming more prone to physical and psychological disorders "children growing up in chronic poverty. There are more likely than other children to experience physical impairments (e.g., low birth weight or "stunting"), cognitive delays and lower IQ, diminished school achievement and higher dropout rates, heightened risk of delinquency, and a greater likelihood of unintended teenage childbearing. The literature on adolescent development is both voluminous and troubling" quoted by (Amato & Booth, 1997 & Brown, & Lichter, 2005). Moreover, many of them physically stunted, suffer psychologically from undue family pressures and abuses and are neglected at home, hence, "parenting factors have consistently been related to problematic adolescent behavior too" reported by (Frick, Christian, & Wootton, 1999; Rose, Glaser, Calhoun, & Bates, 2004).Keywords
